Originally from Wales, choreographer Jessie Brett has been working in dance for 17 years as a dancer, teacher, choreographer, project manager and director.
Jessie is an award-winning choreographer, she has been creating, touring and producing inclusive dance productions since 2016 and has worked with communities in Wales and Ethiopia. In these years she’s received a lot of lessons about life, culture and privilege which completely changed her perspective and approach to life and work. Her work centres on inclusion and shifting perspectives by creating opportunities to exchange dance knowledge and cultural, emotional and physical experiences. She developed her inclusive practice in Ethiopia with Adunya Dance Company, Meseret Yirga and Destino Dance Company. In Ethiopia she experienced a new approach that was so inspiring, playful, fearless and compassionate.
She is one of the founders of Groundwork Pro in Wales, Contemporary Nights in Ethiopia and Addis Guzo Dance Group, a dance training for local disabled people in Addis Ababa.
In 2021 she set up Humans Move to share her practice, lived and danced experience with the community in Wales and beyond.
